Patchwork & Quilting: Beginners 1 day Class Glasgow

Always fancied trying your hand at quilting? This one-day workshop will teach you the essential skills to start creating your very own works of fabric art!

Who’s it for?
This class is perfect for those with very basic sewing experience (such as our Beginners Sewing Course). You don’t need to have quilted before, we’ll guide you through every step in a fun, supportive environment.

What you’ll learn:

• How to use essential quilting tools and equipment
• Cutting techniques and patchwork layouts
• How to line up seams and press like a pro
• Machine-sewn patchwork and quilting techniques
• Hand-finishing methods for a polished result

What’s included:

• Use of our sewing machines, cutting tools and quilting equipment
• Expert step-by-step guidance from your tutor
• Access to quilting fabrics and accessories available to purchase in the Sew Confident shop.

What to bring:

• 5 x Fat Quarters of various prints
• ½ metre non-stretch fabric (e.g. cotton) for binding
• 1 metre non-stretch backing fabric (e.g. cotton)
• 1 metre wadding/batting
• Thread in your chosen colours
• Pack of quilting/curved safety pins

Course format:

• 1 full day workshop (10am – 4pm)
• Small group learning with lots of tutor support
• You’ll complete at least 2 quilted samples, including a half-square triangle block, quilted and bound ready to take home!
